Those numbers have even the naïve thinking that something is significantly wrong. There is no way that so many C-sections could have been medically necessary. The article says that women who are laboring too long in some of the Chinese hospitals are hurriedly given a C-section. There are also incidences where C-sections are performed for the convenience of the mother because she is too afraid of the pain to go into labor or she wants her baby to be born before a certain date so he will not be held back another year for school.

Baby and mom were able to make it to the hospital with umbilical cord still attached.   They are home now and have a unique birth story to tell.

Baby Azelan weighed 2 lbs. 24 oz at birth and according to his doctors he does not have any major complications.  It surprised members of his medical team how well he actually was at birth.

This is certainly a rare occurrence, but this is not the first time that a baby was born after gestating outside the womb.  In 2003 a mother in Canada gave birth via C-section to a baby boy that had grown outside her uterus    Two years after that another Canadian mother gave birth via C-section to a baby girl that had grown outside of her uterus.  A similar miracle happened to a British woman whose baby boy grew outside the womb and was successfully delivered via C-section in 2008.

According to Dr. Robert Sabbah of Sacré-Coeur Hospital in Canada, 1 in 10,000 pregnancies are abdominal pregnancies and 99 % of those pregnancy end in fetal death.   The fact that there are cases that actually end with a healthy baby and mother is a definite miracle.

Their baby girl has been named Monroe Cannon.  Monroe, like her mother, has no middle name.  Monroe was selected for the little girl’s name because it was the last name of Carey’s idol, Marilyn Monroe.  Marilyn Monroe was actually born Norma Jeane Mortenson, but baptized Norma Jeane Baker.  

Monroe Cannon’s twin brother did receive a middle name.  His parents decided to name him Moroccan Scott Cannon.   He already has the nickname of “Roc.”  His middle name of Scott is the same as his dad’s middle name.   According to Mariah Carey’s official blog, Nick proposed to her in the Morrocan room of her New York City apartment and that is the inspiration for their son’s first name.

The couple also celebrated their wedding anniversary by renewing their wedding vows on Sunday.  The Reverend Al Sharpton officiated the vows renewal at the hospital and spoke a blessing over the twins.

Mariska Hargitay and her husband Peter Hermann recently adopted a baby girl.  Their new baby girl ,Amaya Josephine, joins older brother August Miklos Friedrich Hermann.  Hargitay gave birth to 5 year-old August on June 28, 2006 via emergency cesarean section.     

Hargitay stars on the NBC drama Law and Order: Special victims unit.  She is among a family of celebrities and actors.  Her late parents where actress Jayne Mansfield, and actor/bodybuilder Mickey Hargitay.    Mariska Hargitay met her husband while filming on the set of Law and Order: SVU.   Hermann was playing the recurring role of defense attorney Trevor Langan.

I had my baby girl this morning! Sydney arrived on her due date at 3am! Everyone is happy and healthy.

Sydney is the second child together for Ali and her husband Curtis Conway.  The couple have 2 year-old son named Curtis Muhammad Conway Jr.  Curtis Conway Sr. also has three children from a previous marriage: 15-year-old twin sons Cameron and Kelton and 11-year-old Leilani.

Ali is the daughter of heavy weight champion Muhammad Ali.  Laila Ali also did boxing herself.  Curtis Sr. is former NFL player that played for  Chicago Bears, the San Diego Chargers, the New York Jets and the San Francisco 49ers.

Eli Manning became a daddy for the first time with the arrival of his baby girl Ava Frances.  Manning’s wife, Abby, gave delivered Ava Frances who weighed 7lbs 4 oz. at the time of birth on March 21^st.

Even if the football season is canceled Eli will have plenty to keep him busy with a new baby.   According to the New York Post Page Six, the Mannings purchased another apartment adjacent to their Hoboken, New Jersey apartment so that they could make room for their new baby.    They also have a home in Oxford, Mississippi for when Eli is not playing football with the New York Giants.

John Travolta and wife, Kelly Preston at 80th Academy Awards

John Travolta and Kelly Preston had something extra to be thankful for as they celebrated Thanksgiving last week.  The couple welcomed a baby boy on November 23, 2010.     John and Kelly named their baby boy Benjamin.  Benjamin joins older sister Ella Bleu.
