People reports that actress Kristin Davis adopted a baby girl a few months ago. She decided to name her Gemma Rose Davis. What a little Gem she is; she is so adorable. This little darling came into her life through domestic adoption. Davis joins other single Hollywood moms that have decided to adopt domestically and internationally. Although originally planned as a couple’s adoption, Sandra Bullock adopted a baby boy early last year and is now raising him as a single mom. Angelina Jolie also adopted as single mom. Musician Cheryl Crow adopted two baby boys as a single mom. There are several others that could be added to the list. Congratulations to Kristin and baby Gemma

Adopting a baby or older child brings da lot of joy into a family, but that joy will not cover the financial cost of adoption. The government has tax credits for families that adopt children. The current adoption tax credit can be applied to any federal taxes a family owes and the remaining amount is then given as a refund. In the coming years there will be changes to the tax credit that will stop the balance of the adoption tax credits from being given as a refund to adoptive families.

Fake Birth Parents Caught in Adoption Scam

Several people will soon be charged with scamming couples out of thousands of dollars. At least 6 victims of the scam have been identified. The Associated Press reported that charges will soon be filed by the Oklahoma Attorney General against several people that faked pregnancies with the intention to just defraud families.

One positive is that there is not an actual child involved in this situation. This is an all-around sad story and makes you wonder what could go through anyone’s mind to do something like this to another human being. The potential adoptive parents must have gone through a huge emotional rollercoaster because of this ordeal. The fact that they thought they would soon be parents to a brand new baby and add to that they lost thousands of dollars to the scammers is something that takes a lot of strength to deal with.

Chinese Adopted “Orphaned” Babies Could be Stolen Babies

Most international families that look to adopt a child from an orphanage in China expect that everything is legal and that the child that they are actually adopting is an orphan. However, several investigations show that some of these children have been forcibly taken from their parents and then sold to orphanages. These orphanages then arranged for international adoptions of the children with families from around the globe, including the United States.

The article from Time.com says that some of the biological parents have been looking for their children for years. The Chinese government says that they are investigating to find out about these kidnappings and foreign adoptions. What they will find out and what new policies they may put into place is left to be seen.

Mariska Hargitay and her husband Peter Hermann recently adopted a baby girl. Their new baby girl ,Amaya Josephine, joins older brother August Miklos Friedrich Hermann. Hargitay gave birth to 5 year-old August on June 28, 2006 via emergency cesarean section.

Hargitay stars on the NBC drama Law and Order: Special victims unit. She is among a family of celebrities and actors. Her late parents where actress Jayne Mansfield, and actor/bodybuilder Mickey Hargitay. Mariska Hargitay met her husband while filming on the set of Law and Order: SVU. Hermann was playing the recurring role of defense attorney Trevor Langan.

Big and Rich Singer, Big Kenny(Kenny Alphin) and his wife Christiev welcomed a baby boy into their family this past July. Dakota Jefferson Holiday Alphin joined the family via adoption. The couple has a 4 year-old biological son, and decided to adopt after having difficulty conceiving. Congratulations to the couple and their boys.

According to People, Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman and their new daughter are doing well. Nicole gave birth today to a baby girl , Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, in Nashville, Tennessee. Nicole has two adopted children, Isabella Jane and Connor Antony, from her marriage to actor Tom Cruise. Kidman and Cruise were divorced in August 8, 2001. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were wed in June 25, 2006 in Sydney Australia.

Angelina Jolie and her boyfriend, Brad Pitt, are expecting twins in August. This will add 6 to the Jolie-Pitt pit clan of kids. Jolie may be having her twins in France. She did say that she wanted her children to feel connections to other countries. She tries to allow her internationally adopted children know their native country. She purposely had her birth daughter, Shiloh in a foreign country.
