Eat Like a Cow and Choose the Sex of your Baby

A New Zealand web site reported findings that cows who gained weight before conceiving  were more likely to give  birth to male calves and  those that lost weight before conception were more likely to give birth to female calves.  You can draw your own conclusion from that.

There hasn’t been any scientific study to prove that this would actually work in humans.    But it can join the long list of pregnancy old wives’ tales.

A Manny for Britney’s little man

It is reported that Britney Spears has hired a manny to help care for her little man. A manny is a male nanny. If you didn’t know what a manny was, at first, you are not alone. I had to do a little research myself.

Having a manny is not a new thing;there are web sites actually dedicated to the male nanny. Sitcoms such as `Charles in Charge` and `Mr. Belvidere` was centered around the male nanny taking care of the children.

Choosing a caregiver for a child is built on research and personal preferences. There are tons of resources available to help make that decision. I am sure that Britney Spears did her research befor hiring her manny for little Sean Preston.

Pregnant? Avoid the chicken of the sea.

Recommendations published in the magazine Consumer Reports this week urge women to avoid eating any canned tuna while pregnant because of uncertainties about the risk of mercury contamination to developing fetuses.

The recommendations are stricter than the federal government’s advice issued two years ago. Then, the FDA advised women and young children to limit — but not avoid — consumption of canned tuna because of contamination.

But the magazine’s experts say women should avoid the popular item altogether because of FDA data showing that some canned tuna may have higher mercury levels than once thought.
